About Me
Ava Schmidt is a singer, dancer, and actress from St. Louis, Missouri. Growing up, she trained at COCA (Center of Creative Arts) under the artistic direction of former Ailey dancers Antonio Douthit-Boyd and Kirven Douthit-Boyd. She has also been in numerous productions at the
the Muny, where she worked with Gordon Greenberg, Dan Knechtges, Kathleen Marshall, and Jon Rua. Ava just finished her MA in Hispanic studies after receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre Performance, BA in Dance, and BA in Spanish at Western Michigan University. During her time there, she has worked with many notable directors and choreographers, such as Patrick Cassidy, Christopher Patterson, and Paul Stancato among others. Outside of school, Ava has had the opportunity to work professionally as a performer at The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre and Farmers Alley Theatre. She just moved to New York City, where she has the ability to combine her passions for theatre and the Spanish language. While there, Ava hopes to perform, earn her translation certification, and make art more accessible to all.
